The Center for Regional Analysis developed a monthly series of indicators that track the current and near-term performance of the Greater Washington area economy analogous to the national system of leading and coincident indicators. The Coincident Index is a monthly indicator of the economy’s current performance while the Leading Index is an indicator of the region’s economic performance six months hence. The indices are available for the current month, prior month and one year earlier. Historic data for the indices and components (back to 1990) are available from the Center.
